The advantages of the pressurised system is that it is sealed from ingress of air into the system, with the expansion being taken up with an expansion vessel.
Drain back systems Fig 2, 3 and 4
The drain back system incorporates a separate vessel sited below the level of collectors. The fluid from the collectors will drain back into the vessel when the solar gain is satisfied or it is not viable for solar gain.
Retrofit and inset collectors
Retrofit collectors and pipe collections are fitted on to the existing roof covering and will be visible.
Inset collectors are mounted into the roof covering, the lower profile of the collectors will be visible, but all pipe collections will be concealed.
